Office Space (1999)

Thanks to a hypnosis accident, disengaged and disgruntled office worker, Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston) starts impressing upper management in this comedy that perfectly articulates the plight of many modern-day cubicle dwellers lost in soulless corporations and particularly those employees working under insipid middle managers like the one here portrayed in a perfectly irritating manner by a hilarious Gary Cole.

Working Girl (1988)

In her career best performance, Melanie Griffiths plays Tess McGill, a big-haired receptionist from Staten Island who decides she deserves better than her demeaning job and cheating boyfriend and so sets about making it big in the corporate world, in this comedy drama that anyone who has ever had a job or a boss they didn't like will find impossible not to love: a kind of 80s corporate office version of The Devil Wears Prada with Sigourney Weaver in the role of boss from hell.

Fear and Trembling (Stupeur et tremblements) (2003)

Despite the absurdity of the comedy in this slight movie (about one woman's dream-come-true year as an interpreter in Japan and how it all goes horribly wrong), this is in fact a razor sharp look at a very real office culture in Japan and a bleak look at the place of foreigners (gaijin) in Japan's rigidly structured corporate world..and I understand it is based on a book about one woman's actual experience!
