Fool's Gold (2008)

This much-maligned sun-drenched adventure from Warner Bros. has goofball divorcees, played by bronzed beach babes Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, reuniting in a race to claim a sunken treasure in the Caribbean, and it is so harmless a romantic romp, like an especially cartoony Romancing the Stone, it is hard to see why so many people regard it with such disdain, even if Donald Sutherland's appearance as a rich yacht owner feels unnecessary and his character's relationship with his daughter is irritating, even if McConaughey and Hudson are not the most likeable leads, and even if you are never going to want to watch it again, ever.

About Last Night (2014)

Kevin Hart somehow manages to be likeable even playing shrill objectifier and verbal abuser of women Bernie Litgo and even more likeable is his friend played by Michael Ealy, a tenderheart with a moral compass ready to settle down with his corporate go-getting partner, and this surprisingly engaging movie, not quite funny enough to be considered an outright comedy but amusing, follows these two likeable characters as they move about the city and transition from young carefree partyers enjoying the singles scene to adults in committed relationships with their girlfriends.

Get Hard (2015)

A wealthy, white hedge fund manager has just 30 days to ready himself for a 10-year maximum security prison sentence and so turns to a local business owner, a black man, for lessons in male rape, how to perform oral sex to garner prison favour, and shiv making and keistering, and underlying all this penis and anus fun is the not very funny idea that jail culture equals black culture.
