Game Night (2018)

As in Rough Night, a group of friends gather for good times - here, their weekly game night - and the joke again is they don't recognise the real danger they are in as gangsters start brawling, shooting, kidnapping and murdering all around them, but in Game Night that comedic situation lasts only about fifteen minutes (just one and a half intriguing clues into a murder mystery party) before the penny drops for everyone, the comedy descends into predictable action - lots of car chases and chases on foot - and the plot stops making sense, akin to abandoning the rules of Cluedo on the second dice roll and jumping around the board any which way you like.

Identity Thief (2013)

This comedy about a thief living the high life funded by stolen credit cards and the victim who tracks her down in order to save his job, sounds like a riot but it is unfunny, uninteresting and largely unlikeable.
