The line between artistic genius and madness has been explored to lesser effect in Black Swan; this movie - music, not ballet, men, not women - is also better paced, avoids the ridiculous (drum student Andrew doesn't sprout feathers) and - believe the hype - that bald guy, J K Simmons, is electric as the music teacher with high standards.
