This documentary about a fateful 1936 Toni Kurz-led attempt to climb the notoriously trecherous northface of Switzerland's The Eiger, narrated by Joe Simpson (whose own disastrous mountain climbing trip was the focus of an earlier 2003 documentary, "Touching the Void") is a gripping documentary that succeeds in demonstrating what it is to stare into the void.
